The Electrical Team designs the electrical system and builds custom circuitry to add functions to the robot. We also put all the wiring and switches onto the Operator Interface for the Drive Team. We work through the summer to teach students the basics of electricity and electronics, then during the season we build the electrical system for the robot for the functions the team has chosen for the robot. Come by our meetings, and you’ll see us wiring up motor controllers, designing and building special sensors (like Ultrasonic, Infra-Red or touch sensors), or programming microcontrollers to detect game pieces. The Electrical Team acts as the “glue” between the Mechanical Team and the Software Team, by providing the computer, motor controllers, and electrical sensors that allow the software of the robot to make the robot come to life. We do great projects that really add depth to a resume, help students get into great universities, and the experience really helps when it comes to applying for scholarships!
